We are all change agents!

Most people want to make the world a better place. I suspect that you do. Would it not be wonderful to live in a world where there is peace and prosperity for all… everyone has the opportunity to succeed… where everyone honors everyone else and their beliefs… a world that works for everyone?

So how do we get that world? As I know, you know, it begins with each and everyone of us. It begins with our own thoughts, our words, our deeds. It begins in our own consciousness as we shift how we look at the world. We let go of focusing our awareness on where the world is less than what we want turning from those conditions, and focusing on the positive. We give our mental energy to that which we desire to expand. As each and every one of us shifts our consciousness to the highest possibilities of what our lives, our country, and our planet can be, we grow the world in that direction.

So how do we get more people to shift their consciousness in that direction? So how do you multiply your consciousness? I recognize that question can be taken a couple ways.

Expand your Consciousness

On the one hand, you might see multiplying your consciousness as meaning expanding your consciousness to higher levels of awareness. How do you expand your consciousness? Of course, it begins with the intent to do so. But beyond that, it involves a regular spiritual practice being woven into your life. It means spending time each day, communing with the Divine, with God. It means expanding your awareness through this process of recognizing and sensing at the deepest level of your being that you are one with everyone and everything. As that awareness expands, your love expands outward from you in all directions encompassing all that is. With this love comes compassion and a desire to serve.

Expand your Service

It is in this concept of service that we see a path to the second way of multiplying your consciousness. We look out on life and recognize that the consciousness that is within us is also in every other person. We carry our sense of uniqueness and individuality that senses that the consciousness within us is “ours”. This same sense points at other people and sees their internal awareness as “theirs”. As we grow in our awareness of Oneness, we begin to hold an interesting dichotomy. We continue to recognize our individuality, yet also become aware that each and every personal consciousness is part of one Mind. Our personal consciousness was already “multiplied” all the time, we just didn’t know it.

This awareness coupled with a desire to serve frequently opens us to the questions of “how can I make a difference?” and “how can I grow the consciousness of the planet in a positive direction?” In other words, how can I from the level of my new awareness assist others in releasing thoughts and beliefs that no longer serve them or the world, to recognize our interconnectedness and to turn their focus to our highest possibilities?

Be the Change

We must always remember that we cannot “control” or “change” other people. The only person we have control over is ourselves. So in our call to service, we begin with ourselves and our own thinking and our own actions. We begin in our own “sphere of influence.” As we change ourselves we serve as a model for others. Our actions open others to creating their own change. In this way, we actually do in a certain sense “multiply consciousness”.

What I invite you to see is that how you show up in life creates this ripple effect in others. You actually do have the ability to multiply consciousness. You do it all the time, often without your awareness. The question now becomes “in what direction do you want it to grow?”

We are all change agents, whether we like it or not. We all have a responsibility for our collective growth, whether we consciously accept it or not. It’s time for all of us to become conscious change agents for a world that works for everyone.

What are our greatest ideals?

Today I’m facing a moral dilemma. What’s more important… passing health care legislation immediately that ensures access to adequate health care for everyone in our country now… or… passing health care legislation in a little bit longer time frame but for the right reasons?

To be clear, I truly believe that every person should have access to quality affordable healthcare. This is an issue I feel so strongly about, that I wrote all my Congressional representatives in support of health care legislation. In my letter, I pointed out that our providing healthcare is a moral imperative and encouraged them to hold that vision above the needs of special interests. I still feel this way.

In my “prior life” I had worked for the Medicare agency for over 20 years and closely watched health care legislation of all types. I knew that if the Obama administration decided to make health care legislation a priority that they had a fairly short political window in which to get this done. Generally public mandates are only good until the next election two years away. I trusted that they had learned lessons from the Clinton administration’s attempt to pass health care legislation in the 1990s and would not make the same mistakes. My biggest concern, and why I wrote my letter to my congressman, was that the legislation would not stay focused on the needs of the people. Although I knew the legislation should appropriately consider the needs of the healthcare industry, I also realized that this industry is so complex and has so many special interests with a multitude of lobbyists that frequently their voices drown out the voices of the people who need the health care.

Now I have a confession to make, after spending many years watching health care legislation, I enjoyed not reading every news article about Congress’s efforts to pass the bill. Occasionally I’ve had people ask me questions about the current health care debate and I had to acknowledge that I had not immersed myself in the details. However, I did begin to wonder why the Democrats who could have crafted and passed a bill had not done so. After all, if they truly wanted to push something through on partisan lines they could’ve come up with some kind of bill that would pass muster for everyone in their party and get it through. I told myself that they were taking this more time-consuming approach because they were trying to ensure the support of the healthcare industry and create a bill that met their needs.

Of course, as we know by now, one of the reasons that no bill has been passed is because a number of Congressional representatives would not support the bill until they had won for their state some special concession often unrelated to healthcare. The current issue of “The Christian Science Monitor” (February 7, 2010) has an interesting article on the backlash to these deals. One aspect of their report truly saddens me. It outlines a number of the deals that Democratic congressmen obtained for their states to secure their vote. Although I am not naïve and recognize that this kind of bargaining has long been part of our political process, the degree to which they withheld their votes on our moral imperative to provide health care in order to seek gain for their state, shocked even me.

Here is one telling quote from Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska who came under fire for the deal he brokered for his vote (involving getting Nebraska exempted from a Federal Medicaid mandate), in his defense he stated, “this was never just about Nebraska. It was to be a placeholder to try to get [the Medicaid extension] fully funded for all states. My priorities are Nebraska first, Nebraska, always — not Nebraska only.” Sen. Nelson’s comments are representative in my opinion of the beliefs and intents of other congressmen who made agreements for their votes.

I feel compelled to mention at this point, that this is not a partisan article attacking Democrats… these political deals occur on both sides of the aisle. As I wrote about yesterday, I truly believe we need to move beyond our partisan divisiveness and move to a trans-partisan approach to our political challenges. We need to come together as a people and solve issues collectively rather than continuing to do things the old way where all too often we focus on the needs of the few over the needs of the many.

Therefore, I was really encouraged by one aspect of the Monitor’ s article. People are pushing back on their Congressional representatives for putting the needs of their individual state ahead of the needs of the entire country. Now I know some of this pushback is motivated by the Republican camp who senses a vulnerability towards their Democratic counterparts and is “stirring the pot” for future political gain. Yet beyond this is a growing group of people of all political persuasions who are seeking more transparency from their leaders. They’re tired of backroom deals, and they’re using the power of the Internet to stay informed on them. They are seeking to hold their elected representatives accountable for all the people not just a few. This is a good thing for all of us, no matter what our political beliefs.

I sense an interesting shift going on here. In the early days of our republic, the needs of the states were most often put above the needs of the country. Our Congressional branch of government was designed to support the needs of the states. The pattern of congressmen brokering deals for their state has a rich history. Historians tell us, that it was only after the Civil War that people shifted their perception from seeing us as a loose confederation of states to one country. Our worldviews continue to evolve in this direction. The people for whom we have care and concern and to whom we feel connected is growing and growing and transcending political and geographical boundaries. You can call me naïve, but I consider myself an optimist. The shift I see occurring is in the consciousness of the American public, where they are less concerned about the needs of their state than they are about the needs of their country… and their fellow countrymen. They are less concerned about “their political party winning” and more concerned about “everyone winning.”. Yes I know, there is a lot of evidence to the contrary and a lot of continuing partisan rhetoric and actions, but in my optimism I do see a shift.

Which brings me to my moral dilemma… I truly believe everybody in our country deserves access to quality healthcare simply by virtue of their humanity. Everything and everyone is interconnected. The lack of access to care for anyone affects all of us whether we realize it or not. The sooner we provide this care, the better off we will all be. So there is a part of me that wishes that this healthcare legislation had been passed. On the other hand, I truly believe that all of us including our congressmen need to evolve in our outlook on life to where our actions and choices are driven by the greatest good for the greatest number. Our care and concern for humanity must evolve beyond state boundaries and political parties.

So I’m left today seeing the gift in all of this. In spite of my desire to have immediate healthcare available to everyone, what good is coming through our country through the challenges of this failed legislation? I truly believe that the debate around healthcare and the pushback on congressional deal making is calling into our awareness thoughts of our greatest ideal as a people. Although we have a ways to go, this situation is raising our consciousness. It is one further step in the process at our realizing at the essence of our being that we are all connected and that connection transcends all human boundaries. Our next step is to release our old limiting beliefs in the way things must be done in seeking new actions and new solutions that serve everyone everywhere. That is where our greatest ideals are to be found.

Happy February!

Today, February 1, 2010, we are starting into the second month of this expanded “Conscious Bridge” web site.  I thought it might be time to reiterate my intention for this site and these articles.  A bit of this is available in bits and pieces in other articles and on the “why read this website” page.

My purpose really is to synthesize certain learnings I’ve had and present them in a manner I hope will help others with questions they may have on life.  I also have a personal intention to help myself as well.  Great clarity comes from writing down what you believe.

To understand my intention, you really need to understand some beliefs that I hold. One of those beliefs is that the earth and all of humanity continue to evolve. And, although the physical world still continues to evolve, it is really in the evolution of our consciousness that I believe our path continues to primarily develop. I believe that there is a direction to that evolution of consciousness. I believe that humanity is at a key threshold in our change. Previously in the evolution of humanity, we crossed one threshold when we became self-aware…that is we began to “know that we know”. Our new threshold deals with our realization that we control our destiny in the evolution of our consciousness. We are coming to understand that we are conscious co-creators in life. We are learning that our thoughts have power and that by consciously directing our thoughts, we can create our lives. More and more people are becoming aware of that power.

Another belief that I hold is that everything is connected. We may live our lives in the illusion that we are separate from everyone and everything, but ultimately part of personal evolution is to become aware that all is One. And, with the realization that everything is connected and that my thoughts have creative power, then I become aware that I want to move my thoughts and actions to be in alignment with the greatest good for everyone and everything.

So the question then becomes, what kind of lives do we want to create? What kind of world do we want to live in? The purpose of this web site is really to hold that question up in our consciousness. I want us to think about the life possible…the world possible. Each of us live our individual lives and deal with all the “stuff” that goes on in them….but if we become aware of this new threshold of being conscious co-creators and that we are all one, then we cannot help but look forward up our path and contemplate the highest possibilities and say, “how do I want my life to unfold and the planet to unfold that creates a world that works for all of us?” Although we may differ on the details, I believe there are general characteristics of a positive future that most of us can agree upon.

So, in addition to asking these questions, my intention with this web site is to shift my personal consciousness (and hopefully those who read it) in the direction of that positive future.

So some days I may be synthesizing science and spirituality to offer what I believe is true. On other days I may be looking at current events and what they offer us for our evolution. Underlying all of this is an intention to move our consciousness and our energy towards a world that works for everyone.

So….Let me see if I can say this more simply…our thoughts have power and we can choose our thoughts which lead to our words and deeds. This power or energy can be used for trivial matters or destructive purposes ….or they can be used consciously for collective good. Our conscious choice is the key. We are at a major energetic shift on the planet….I know that many of you can sense that. We have been stuck in separation and a focus on our differences. One of the shifts is to move from a sense that we are separate from one another and all of the world towards a realzation that we are connected to everything and everyone. The purpose ultimately in this web site is to shift consciousness and with that to shift energy towards our collective positive future.

What greater purpose, can there be?

Recently, I had a friend send me an email asking me my opinion of it. It was one of those ubiquitous emails that get forwarded and forwarded and forwarded, virally passing along its contents without anyone stopping to say “is this true?”.

Although this particular email was one that was disparaging President Obama and forwarded on by those on the right who obviously were not fans of the President, I have equally seen similar ones circulated by those on the left passing along things that were untrue about Republicans.

In just a few minutes, I was able to do a quick internet search and determine that whoever had originated the email had falsified what was being presented. The original email was a flat out lie which had been generated to create the sense that this lie was the truth in the minds of the email’s recipients. I always wonder about the ethics of the individuals who create these kinds of emails well aware of what they were doing. The web site http://www.snopes.com/ is invaluable for checking these email rumors out.

Everyone else in the chain of passing it along all the way to my friend had assumed the note to be true and had passed it along to friends, until my friend stopped the chain and asked me my opinion. I let him know that the contents were not true and gave him the web link to verify that fact. But then I felt compelled to add in my reply to him what I thought was the bigger issue here for all of us…..that is……

What kind of country do we want to live in?…… and here is an edited version of my thoughts:

Personally, I want us to live in a country that values the diversity of opinions and honors even the person who believes differently from ourselves. I want to live in a country where we can believe different things without having our differences lead to us disliking the person who doesn’t think like we think. Our great country was built on a system of honoring this diversity.

There has been a greater and greater degree of activities such as this false email from both the right and the left to “prove” that their views are “correct” and that others are “wrong”. This type of action only serves to create more divisiveness in our country rather than to bring us together. It truly saddens me to see this type of thing no matter which side of the political spectrum it originates.

So many people simply pass these things on because it “fits” their beliefs and they don’t take a moment to say “is this true?” or “what benefit is being gained by my passing this along?” Rather we think “I knew it”, feel somewhat righteous about our knowledge and judgment, and then pass the email along to our friends who “think as we think” and the cycle of negativity continues.

I would love to see a world where we let the power of our wonderful democracy place people in office who then went about their charge as given to them by the American people without having to deal with the continuous effort by others to attack them on any and every issue they can possibly muster.

Our country faces some tremendous challenges. The wars, the economy, the foreclosures, the growing deficits, the looming financial crisis in Medicare and Social Security, climate change, the lack of basic health coverage for everyone and on and on are some concerns that I would love our country come together on, using the best minds and ideas to create solutions that work for everyone.

This is not the time for small minded individuals to dwell upon such trivial and generally untrue issues that constantly get thrown at the President. False issues such as the whole birth certificate thing, whether Obama’s hand is over his heart or not at points during public ceremonies, creating controversy about his wanting to encourage students to work hard and on and on….it truly raises questions in my mind about the intentions of people who insist on dwelling on such things. I would ask those individuals to consider what their real intentions are in passing along things that only serve to divide us as a people and work to foster distrust and dislike. Is this truly what they want? In my heart, I don’t think so. I think they many us of pass things along or raise such issues without thinking of the bigger consequences beyond the issue.

I’m not saying one can’t disagree with the President. I certainly don’t agree with everything he has done. But I do say, let’s focus on the real issues and the best way to solve them. Let’s agree to disagree on the details when necessary.

So to be specific, what can we do?

First, let’s you and I work to change our own thinking so that we value differences of opinions and see the good in everybody (from the President or whomever we may disagree and on to the people who originated this false email and ultimately on to everyone). Our sense of care and concern needs to expand to include everyone and see our commonness in humanity first before we concern ourselves with the differences of our opinions.

Secondly, let’s do what we can to redirect the attention and focus of people towards the direction that we want to go as humanity (peace, ecological balance, basic level of living security for everyone, health care access for all, and so on) and away from thinking that does not serve us (spreading hate and rumors, attacking people because they are different, etc.).

When we get emails such as this, let’s check the truth and check our intentions before we pass them along. And, when we find that they are untrue, such as this one, let’s let the ones who sent us the email know so that they might consider correcting any false impressions that they served to create.

We may disagree on the details of how to get where we need to go but I truly believe that in our hearts we know that dishonoring others and spreading hate rather than love is not where we want to live.

Thank you.

Mark

There’s great potential in focusing our energy in the direction we want to go rather than pushing against some condition we don’t like.  Whatever we spend our mental coin on is what we tend to produce.  The trick, of course, is in gaining the ability to turn our attention away from that we don’t want and then towards that which we do.

I thought about this the other night as I sat in the Denver City Council chambers for around six hours watching our civic processes in action.  I was there in support of my daughter, whose company was entering into a contract with the city which required the council’s approval.  They were holding public hearings on the contract which would bring a series of high-tech movie events to two of the city’s parks over the next three years.  This type of special outdoor cinema has never been used in the United States before yet has been quite successful in other countries for a number of years.  (For more information on the concept you can visit the company’s website at http://www.usopenair.com/ ).

Now admittedly, I might have a slight bias in favor of this idea based on this being my daughter’s company, yet I really do believe that these events can revitalize some of Denver’s underused parks and showcase their specialness.  I really thought this concept was a no-brainer.  Hence I was a little bit surprised when I showed up at the council’s hearings and discovered a large contingent of people who were wearing homemade stickers encouraging the council to vote “no”.  There were about 75 people who signed up to speak to the council.  Of that number, roughly half were in favor of the contract and half were not.  About half of each group got to speak before time ran out.  I was pleased to be able to address the council.

It’s not my purpose here to explain all of the points for and against bringing these film events to Denver’s parks.  As always, reasonable minds can disagree and there were good points made on both sides.  However, it was interesting to note a general theme that emerged from each side.  My comments, as well as many of the comments for those in favor of the proposal, focused upon a vision of a possible future.  They pointed to the potential for this film series to create a vital and vibrant focal point for activating the park’s potential to be a hub for the sharing of community.  On the other hand, many of the comments against the proposal were (in my opinion) rooted in fear…fear of change, fear of this being a setting of a precedent that might lead to the loss of parks, fear of the unknown, and more.  To be fair, there were some comments by some opponents, who took a non-fear-based approach and attempted to offer what they viewed as an alternative win-win possibility.  But in general, most of the opponents appeared to be stuck in the past and to be “pushing against” the idea.

Mystic Ernest Holmes wrote, “Find me one person who is for something and against nothing, who is redeemed enough not to condemn others out of the burden of his soul, and I will find another savior, another Jesus, and an exalted human being. “  Holmes really was speaking to the power of the Law of Attraction when used in the direction of good for all people.  When we can focus on what we are for, when we can eliminate the need to make others wrong in the process, we can truly perform miracles.

I was pleased at the end of the evening when the council voted in favor of the contract.  Overall this was a great example of our civic processes working out just like they’re designed.

However, there is an issue of concern here, which is indicative of a greater trend in American politics in recent years.  There appears to be a greater degree of being less “for” something and more “against” something which unfortunately often deteriorates into name calling, vindictiveness, and divisive behavior in the public forum.  We see this in lack of unbiased and measured discourse in many television programs, as well as the highly partisan way in which our political parties vote.

Just in the past day, a lot has been made about the election in Massachusetts of a Republican senator to replace Teddy Kennedy simply because that one vote keeps the Democrats from total control of the Senate.  If there was more bipartisan behavior in our Congress, than this one vote would matter less.  There is an assumption by both our media and our politicians that our Congress is simply going to vote along party lines no matter what the issue.

A recent issue of the Christian Science Monitor had an article about the rising national debt and the issue of Congressional approval of the debt ceiling.  There was a telling quote in the piece from Stanley Collender, a longtime congressional budget analyst, who stated, “Debt ceilings have become political footballs and will continue to be in this highly politicized Congress where making the other side lose is more important than governing.”  Unfortunately, his observation frequently seems all too true.

So then the challenge before us is how do we turn from this condition, which is less than what we desire and focus our energy on what we do want?  In my opinion, we have to first acknowledge the condition…not to give energy, not to grow it, but rather just to be aware of it.  It’s from that awareness that we can now consciously choose a higher direction for our politics and for our country.

And what is that higher direction?  In my opinion it includes the following:

  • Visualizing and speaking out about a positive future… expressing our desire for what we do want.
  • Seeking opportunities to reinforce working together.
  • Honoring differences but focusing on commonalities.
  • Looking for ways to turn civil discourse away from negativity and towards respect, dignity and our common bonds.

You probably could add to this list.  I hope that you do.

Blessings,

Mark

There is a law that responds to your thoughts and feelings

By now most people know about the law of attraction, based upon the popularity of the movie and book “The Secret” which discuss it in detail.  Many long-time students of metaphysics were pleased to see how the movie and the book generated interest in the concept they have long studied.  Yet many of us felt that the movie had two basic limitations.  One it focused too much on creating material wealth over the true spiritual purpose of the law (which will discuss another time).  Secondly, it glossed over  certain aspects of the law that when not understood can lead to failure and disillusionment with its truth.  My goal in the next few paragraphs is to simplify the law of attraction as well as to correct some of its misunderstandings.  I acknowledge at the beginning that some will read this and think I, too, have oversimplified it altogether.

Let’s begin by considering that the universe is made up of energy and matter, which are interchangeable with one another and both respond to certain laws.  Science shows that as far back as a few milliseconds after the Big Bang energy, matter and these laws were in existence.  Science and its materialistic approach tends to limit its study to laws such as gravity that can be easily seen and measured.  Other laws such as the law of attraction have nuances to them (such as involving such things as “consciousness”  which are either denied or misunderstood from the materialistic standpoint..a subject we will discuss another day) that science either dismisses them out of hand or has trouble proving their truth.

Simply stated, the law of attraction says that what we tend to think about manifests in the material world.  We often hear the phrase “thoughts are things.”  Hence, a beginning student of the law of attraction would be led to believe that so long as they “think” something enough they will see it come about in their lives.  Sometimes that happens, and validates the law.  Other times, they don’t get what they think and end up thinking the law is a of bunch of bunk.

Generally speaking, there’s two reasons why people don’t get what they consciously think.  The first is that we must not only think something consistently, but we must act and speak in a manner that is in alignment with what we think.  We can affirm and affirm and affirm till we’re blue in the face, but if at the same time we are acting in a manner that is inconsistent with our affirmations then we will never see any manifestation.  If you are thinking and affirming that a new and wonderful relationship is flowing into your life yet you stay at home and never put yourself out where you can be open to being a friend to other people, than you will never see the manifestation of relationships that may be waiting for you.  There’s the old joke that you can affirm to win the lottery, but you first have to buy a ticket.

The second reason why we may not see a manifestation of our thoughts (and one that is most frequently misunderstood) is because thoughts have two parts to them.  The first part is that of which we are consciously aware.  This is the part of consciousness we are using each day when we’re “trying” to use the law of attraction by our affirmations.  The second part of our thoughts are those that are below the level of awareness.  We have developed patterns of thinking throughout our lives that have become so ingrained that we don’t often know they exist.  These “thoughts” said below the level of awareness, and are the source of our beliefs, generate our habits and lead to our emotions.  Simply stated, if we consciously think one thing, but subconsciously believe another then we will not see the desires of our conscious thoughts.

Let’s take an advanced metaphysics aside for a moment…author and philosopher Christian de Quincy in his recent book “Consciousness from Zombies to Angels” challenges the notion that thoughts create our reality.  However he goes on to add that may be a matter of semantics.  He thinks that when people use the word “thought” in this context what they are really talking about is “consciousness”.  He points out that “a great deal of consciousness does on beyond the inquisitive eye of the ego.”  Although I’ll get into these other aspects of consciousness that he discusses at another time, for now let’s simply consider that when we say “thoughts create our reality” what we are really saying is “consciousness creates our reality” and that consciousness contains a part that is in our awareness and a part that is subjected to our awareness.  It is the combination of both aspects of our consciousness that creates our reality.  Interestingly, the mystic Ernest Holmes (who frequently taught that thoughts are things) defines “thought” as “the movement of consciousness.”  A closer reading of Holmes shows us that he did not intend for us to have such a limited concept of the word thought so as to mean simply conscious thought.  Okay, aside over.

So let’s get back to using the law of attraction… imagine for a minute that you have three buckets of thoughts, into which you put your mental energy.  These three buckets can be seen as a continuum.  At one end of the continuum are those thoughts regarding that which we see is in our life but that we don’t want.  Next are those thoughts related to that which is in our lives for which we have appreciation.  Finally up the continuum are those thoughts that relate to that which is not currently in our lives but we wish were.  Our goal in using the law of attraction is to move our thoughts up that continuum.

Frequently, we look at life and see things out there in the physical world that are less than what we desire.  So what are our emotions and beliefs around these events in our lives?  If our emotions and beliefs are along the lines of saying “woe is me, look at my life” or something similar (I’ll never do that, I’ve always been fat, I’ll never be rich, etc.) then we tend to direct our mental energy in using the law of attraction into receiving more of the same.  However, if we look out at those events that we don’t desire, and can see them consciously and emotionally simply as a way for us to recognize that which we don’t want in life, then we give them less energy, and they tend to go away (or at least lessen).  This “turning from conditions” towards higher possibilities is probably the hardest thing to do in using the law of attraction.

One of the best tools for moving our thoughts and emotions away from the apparent limitations of physical life we see in front of us is to focus upon that which is in front of us and for which we feel appreciation.  The more we can shift our thoughts into that bucket, where we are appreciative for that which we have right now, the less energy we are putting in the first bucket.  And, in that process, the more we are moving up the continuum.  Having gratitude for the challenges in our lives, and the lessons they teach us is a great way to move from bucket one that bucket two.  We’ll talk more about this at another time, but for now I just encourage you to look around at your life, from everything large and small for which you are happy, and feel appreciation for it.  For example, this morning I was appreciative for my hot coffee, my warm house, my clothes, my friends, my wife, my family, my dog, and even the hand railing that I was holding onto complete as I walked up the stairs.  Do you get the picture?

The process of feeling appreciative for everything in your life, makes it easier to move your thoughts to the third bucket.  Here you visualize your life as it can be.  You see in your mind that which may not be in physical form yet, but you know that it’s coming.  You release attachment to how it might show up, and just know that it will.  You combine your thoughts with your emotions.  That is, you couple your “conscious” thoughts with your “subconscious or subjective” thoughts which give rise to your emotions.  In a sense you have all parts of your thoughts (or consciousness) in alignment knowing that this positive future is out picturing in your life now.  Then you simply allow the law of attraction to work.

I would love to hear your thoughts and questions on this.

Mark

What do you need to release?

Today I’m cleaning out the closets.

Yesterday I was rereading a book by Catherine Ponder, entitled “The Dynamic Laws of Prosperity”.  One of her “laws” related to creating a vacuum.  We’ve all heard the saying “nature abhors a vacuum.”  The point, of course, is that if you want to draw more of something in your life you have open space for it.  As long as we cling to old stuff we don’t have the space for new stuff.

A corollary to this law is that as long as we cling to old beliefs, we don’t have the space for new beliefs.  Read the rest of this entry »

The Tide is Turning on the Planet...

What do we mean when we say “the tide is turning”? There is another term we use, “sea change”, that has a similar connotation. When we use these words, we are commonly referencing a change we are observing in the outer world. The terms of course, originally came from our observance of a shift in the ocean or sea.

Interestingly, in metaphysics “water” has some unique meanings. Frequently it represents the flow of the collective mind – the collective unconscious. The term “water” can also correspond with “soul”, representing the middle world that serves to link spirit and matter or to link fire and earth. Whenever I contemplate the meaning of “water”, such as when I am reflecting upon the meaning of a dream, I see it as representative of transformation, generally occurring in consciousness. "The Cove"

I want to recommend that you watch a movie called “The Cove”.

Now I have to warn you there are some intense scenes in this film that are not for the faint of heart.

The picture deals with the secret industry that works to sell dolphins to wildlife shows around the world and to slaughter the excess capture to be sold as meat.
