Do you have a quote that spoke to you and guides you in critical moments?   Most of us do.

When I was in leadership with a Federal government agency, I used to send out emails to all of my staff keeping them informed on critical issues. I got in the habit of ending each email with a different quotation. Each quotation generally had a theme of encouraging positive thinking.

Using these quotations served several purposes. One was that consciously I was trying to infuse the staff with the power of positive thinking. Secondly, it was a way of honoring that belief I held regarding the power of focusing thoughts in a positive direction. Finally, it was a way of becoming my true self publicly. Putting those quotes out in a public forum made a statement about myself. It was a way of overcoming personal fears about what others thought of me.

In time, staff were feeding me quotes to use. That was a good thing!

Terri, one of my readers of this website is a former coworker at the government. Recently she wrote me recalling my love of quotes. She gave me one to use here.

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.  It turns what we have into enough, and more.  It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.”~ Melody Beattie

That’s a powerful quote. It speaks of the power of living a life of gratitude. I know that thankfulness is a key part of every one of my days. I have more than enough. My life is clear, orderly and full of acceptance. I feast on life’s bounties meeting friends everywhere I go and returning each time to my loving home. I live a blessed life fed by a wonderful past and guided by a positive future. I am so grateful to be alive!

What quotes feed you? I’ll share a few of mine in the days to come, but I would love to hear yours. Post via a comment or send me an email.

With gratitude and blessings,
